Book 72, 73 &74 continue the line of Book 71 and include small pieces of art, art stories if you will, that are enfolded (so glad that is a word) in a soft grey fabric type paper, then embellished by intuition with additional fabric, thread, felt, beads and such. I have to say how much joy I felt when creating these, not the jump up and down birthday party joy, but a quiet satisfaction, one that evoked many smiles.  If I had an exhibit with these particular books, Book 71-74 (and more to come) I would title it “Continuous Unfolding Messages”.
Enjoy.

Book 71

Book 71

Book 71 and the books that follow are small pieces of art enclosed in a grey fabric paper, embellished with materials I find to be attractive at the time…..felt, embroidery thread…..they are spontaneous wrappings of small textured stories. I hope you will take a look. One might use these for inspiration to write stories, or create a sacred space- opening them up like a small shrine of sorts, they certainly won’t be easy to part with.
Book 71 is approx: 4.5W x 5.5H closed, when opened 5.5H x 18W

Three Mice, the nice bookish type

Books 62, 63 & 64

Book 62, 63 & 64: closed they are nearly 2x2, opened they are 2 H x 7L, sturdy paper, felt nubs, graphite and waxed thread.

I knew I wanted to make little books, so I began with this strong yellowish card stock and began doodling, gluing fuzzy nubs and punching holes, letting the materials guide me. After folding them, wrapping them in brown waxed thread and taking a good look, then seeing a little twitch…I’m certain they have turned into mice. Nice mice, the bookish type. With fuzzy nubs, whisker threads, and paper resembling Swiss cheese….well….I wish I had a friend named Alice who followed instructions about what to eat and drink, certainly these three mice would fit nicely in her world. Maybe they would find a place in your world too, perhaps on a mantle, or sneaking around in cupboards.

If you like these little critters, I’m happy to offer ways you can display them in your home.
